Championship High School Basketball: Practice Organization

Basketball Practice Organization Video with Coach Stu Vetter, Montrose Christian (MD) HS Head Coach; 2x National Coach of the Year (USA Today), 89% winning percentage in 29+ years of coaching Coach Vetter, USA Today's two-time national coach of the year, shares his time-tested strategy on practice organization. Vetter, with the help of nationally recognized strength coach Alan Stein, begins with a multiple exercise and stretching routine. From there he moves into the pre-practice segment, which stresses individual skill development and fundamentals. Form shooting, 1-2 step drill, 2-man shooting, motion cutting, give and go cutting and post up cutting are drills included in pre-practice. Vetter demonstrates drills for the fastbreak, secondary break, half court offensive sets and shooting. The defensive part of practice begins with stance and defensive slides. Pressure is a big part of defense and Vetter believes in full court pressure drills. All one-on-one drills lead to the shell drill in the half court. The next segment of practice is used for special situations. Vetter demonstrates out of bounds plays and special last second shot play. To end practice on a positive note, Vetter demonstrates 20 Baskets - a fun, competitive shooting drill to wrap up the session. This DVD is a great example of a well-disciplined and balanced practice. By using some of the organizational framework you can use time wisely and take great strides toward success! 91 minutes. 2006.
